Just curious if it happens to be May yet and no one told me. If it is May could someone please wake me up so I can enjoy the nice warm weather we are having.................

OK I am back....to reality. I use to love winter, but this is making me real mad. I think the combination of this week long cold and the fact that it was almost 70 degrees on Thursday is enough to send me over the edge.

It is so awesome having such wonderful friends....and Kay is one of those. Kay always makes me smile. She is one of the most light hearted people I know and am so glad that we have gotten to know her as one of our lake friends.

Kay is an awesome lady! I hope you had as much fun as we did.......uncovering that apparently Lime Tequila is now the official tequila of Duncan Lakes replacing the ever popular Orange :)

In Memory....

Of Janice.

It simply amazes me how some people can have such an impact on your life even though you have never met them in person.

That is how I feel about Janice. When I first started posting my Scrapbooking layouts online and communicating with the vast online community of Scrapbookers I joined Scrapjazz. I have been a member there for over 5 years and have become friends with some many of the wonderful ladies that regularly chat there.

One woman in particular touched me and that was Janice Nielsen. I was heartbroken to learn that Janice had passed today. It is heart wrenching to lose those who you wish you would have told one more time what their presence has meant in your life. Janice ALWAYS had kind words to say and never failed to leave the most encouraging and loving comments.

he was truly one of kind. A tremendous woman with a heart of gold! I hope now her and Jeannie can scrap together and take good care of us that remain!

Rest in peace Janice and give Jeannie a big hug for me!!

Tonight I am spending the night at ANOTHER Super 8 Hotel before another Auction, with one Whopper of a cold, in a room that is broiling hot that smells like a campfire.

that is how I feel today. I woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. I certainly hope this goes away soon. It kind of started Sunday with an ear ache worked it's way into a headache and now this sore throat. I swear I just got over a cold and now one is back!!!!!!

I am hooked.....

on the biggest loser!

I have watched it on and off over the last few years, but NEVER as much as this year. Maybe it has something to do with Ron and I and our weight loss quest or maybe it is just because we started watching it but It is sooooooo motivating!

I love watching a show that makes me want to eat right and work out. How can that be wrong. I LOVE it.

I am just staring to get in the grove of who I want to win, but I am cheering for Dan (the Orange team).....

Monday monday....

WOW....that was a LONG one. After driving home from Duncan on the solid ice, I worked out for 30 minutes, took care of my cats, did about 20 errands and was in the office in time for lunch and the afternoon team meeting.

It was nice to see everyone....and going out for supper with Norm, Johnny, Ray, Jeannie, Doug, Dave and Rhonda. I was careful! Chef's salad for me.

It is just a little.....

SNOW!

I think this is the first time in a LONG time that I have actually been home in my house while it was snowing. Granted I ran into town to run some errands, but I can't believe I am not in Kansas or somewhere else and have to work today! What a shock!! It is nice pleasant shock but still a shock!

I have some pictures I took a little bit ago, but waiting for my batteries on my Camera to Charge.

I am still having trouble taking down my Christmas stuff this year. I have no idea why, but I just can't get into it. I want to leave it up till April :) BUT I think I better get it down. My snowmen will stay up till March then they will get packed away too till next year.

There are soooo many thing I will always remember from the 2009 Gator Bowl, but the most is that heartfelt goodbye by Joe and the wave to all of us Nebraska fans from Bo Pelini. The 2009 Gator Bowl will go down as the best Bowl game ever for me. There was just something about it. It was like our resurrection!!!! The Husker rebirth and it was worth every mile. Those little tiny tears of mine...........all for the love of this place we call Nebraska.

Almost Home...

Just Five more hours are offically left of our little Gator Bowl trip.

It seems that this week just flew by. We spent the night in St. Joseph to avoid some ice that had passed through good Ole Nebraska. It will be nice to get home to my bed and my pets. I have a feeling a couple of little cats are going to be pretty happy to see me.

I have had a great week, but I am almost ready to get back into my "normal" routine. When I get home I am faced with two suitcases full of laundry and a list of things to do that I didn't manage to get done before I left.

I have to take down my Christmas Tree at home. My Christmas Tree at the Lake. I think my little snowmen will stay up as usual till March.

We are getting ready to leave St. Joseph Missouri for the last leg of our trip home. I'll update this more today with a few more photos and the final thoughts of this week!

HUSKER GAME DAY....

The Happy Huskers


Live from Jacksonville, Florida........(written following the game)

Today, we woke up and were greeted by the smiling and shining faces of our friends Mike and Kendra who flew in from Nebraska. I woke up this game day with that good feeling about it, so I had some sort of feeling things would turn out fine......

We went to the game with our own personal driver Mr Hicks, who also made sure we made it home safely from ringing in the New Year. Packed in a suburban but all Huskers fans :)

Upon arriving at the Jacksonville Stadium Ron, Mike, Kendra and Myself toured around the stadium trying to find a place where we could have a some fun with our fellow Husker fans. John and Cindy went souvenior shopping and left us alone to navigate the area.

By the time we found a comfortable place to relax before the game, we managed to stumble on a GREAT little party that included the Nebraska Band. That was wayyyyyy cool.





Following our little Band concert, we roamed around the Tailgate party, listening to music and greeting the 1000s of other Husker fans including our very own St. Edward Husker Club.



I can't even begin to tell you all how much excitement was in the stadium. The Clemson folks were loud, but we were loud and proud :) What a great game. That was truly one of the best games I have been too ever. WHAT an awesome expeience. I was sooooo happy following that awesome win by our huskers. There were so many things that happened.

Hello from Jacksonville....

Yes, we are here indeed. Seeing lots of other folks in red with smiling faces and warm smiles. I have found my people :)

Today, we spent some time at Jacksonville Beach. I totally forgot how much I love the Ocean until I see it again. It totally takes my blues away :) Here is Ron and I....and trust me when I tell you that we were NOT the only ones on this beach with Huskers clothes on.




Following our little visit to the bach we then headed to St. Augustine (the oldest town in the United States). It is a beautiful city and I certainly enjoyed my time there. We visted the site were Ponce De Leon first came ashore and watched our frist real cannon be fired (that was cool). We went to eat at a Fantastic restaraunt in the Marina. It was sooooo cool. I had the most wonderful Caribean Chicken. YUM. The coolest thing was that you could feed the birds through a little door below the window. That was so fun. Those birds went NUTS when they saw a piece of bread come out the little doors. Those were certainly NOT hungry birds. (There is a photo below of me feeding my new Floridian friends)








Now, we have returned back to our luxury accomodations on the intersection of John and Mark streets. YES.....that is correct. Ron went to have a muffler put on the van and even though Rainbow Muffler is a few miles down the Road, he is BAD with directions so I am hoping he gets back in time to ring in the New Year.

It is 6:00 Eastern Standard time. I think tonight will bring us finding our way to the Jacksonville version of the Riverwalk to check out the sites and see if we can find some more of those folks in red.........

Round 3...

.....leaving Louisiana in the Broad Day light (quoting the famous Alabama song)



This was taken this morning after we ate breakfast in the Saint Louis Hotel. Following breakfast we packed up and headed for the Superdome. Cindy Soresen is a major New Orleans Saints fan and he promised she could go to the Superdome. We tried to get her in for a tour, but no go, probably with the Sugar Bowl....not a chance, but it was fun to see how excited my friend was to see the Louisiana Superdome.

As we left New Orleans you can still certainly see many of the remains of Hurricane Katrina. It was heartwrenching to see that nearly three years later New Orleans is still healing from the devastation. It has always been a dream of mine to take I-10 along the coast and that is where we are. I bridge over I-10 East of New Orleans was severely damaged during the hurricane and we had the opportunity to travel over it while it is still being repaired.



We arrived safe and sound in Jacksonville tonight around 7:30 p.m. We found out hotel with a minimal of difficulties except Ron cutting off some woman and totally ticking her off...other than that, we settled in and we re greated by several other Husker guests at our hotel. We decided that we would save up for tomorrow and get some rest, so after some Dominos pizza, we watched the OSU and Oregon Ducks game then went to sleepy time in Super 8.

Gatorbowl Bound Round #2....

Well.......adios Oklahoma!! We are safely on our way down the road and are almost entering Lousiana, until Ron almost piled us up in Road Construction (that is the quickest and most recent update...like it just happend) OK...back to my blogging.

Our travels continue. Very pretty country we are traveling through. It is actually green where we are......I'll keep you all updated as we make our progress to Florida.

We made Ron's day by Stopping at a Waffle House in Shreveport for Dinner. Ron will drive 50 miles out of his way to eat at a Waffle House. Now it is on to Lafayatte.....

The road into Baton Rouge....







When we got to Baton Rouge we got to see the Stadium that LSU plays in and the former home of our Bo Pelini.

Tonight we spent the night in New Orleans. We splurged and reserved a room just a 1/2 block off Bourbon Street in the French Quarter. IT was awesome. We went to eat at the Oceona Restaraunt which was just off Bourbon street (remember those Chesse sticks I so wanted????)

GATORBOWL BOUND...

Round #1 - Left Duncan Nebraska this morning headed for Jacksonville Florida. For those who think I only travel for NASCAR.....I will for my Huskers too :) Had to throw in a couple of extra things including my swimsuit which I only feel the need to keep at the lake and Ron's sandals, again a lake only necessity :)

We just took a pit stop in Wichita to eat at Braums. I have never ate at Braums before and after eating there it will certainly NOT be the last. YUMMY! The Ice cream was a very nice added bonus.

We are now headed to Oklahoma City so John and CIndy can deliver Chiristmas gifts to their Grandchildren. So we will be spending the night in Oklahoma City.

After spending what seemed like an eternity on the Kansas turnpike we finally paid our toll and have moved into Oklahoma, just passing by the big Christmas store on I-35. So our frist leg for today has about an hour to go and we shall be resting comfortably in the Super 8 in OK City.....

The Husker caravan continues.....Greetings on the road to the Gator Bowl.......

We arrived in Edmond Oklahoma where we spent some time with John and Cindy's daughter, son-in-law and Grandchildren opening Christmas presents and playing Wii. Reminiscient of our trip to Cancun was a great meal prepared on a grill in front of us. The Shogun Restaraunt was a great place to eat and the little cooking show was a great added bonus.





...and it appears that I found myself a Sooner....

Things I can't get out of my head today....

1. CHEESE BALLS or CHEESE STICKS - yes, that is right. Those cheesey wonders that I love so much. NOW, if I didn't live in Central Nebraska in almost the middle of nowwhere I could find me some yummy good cheese balls, but I think I might have to wait for them when I am on vacation next week. Mission #1....find Kristin some Cheese sticks:



2. An IPOD Touch - Just LOOK at this little gem. Look how cute it would look with my MacBook Pro.....BUT how would I part with my Nano??????? WOW....A touch, a little tiny piece of heaven.



3. CLINT BOWYER in the #33 car: I CAN NOT get Clint out of my head today. I have alot of anticipation for 2009 but a ton of worry. Worry about Clint making the Chase in 2009 and how I am going to handle more yellow in my life:

4. Missing my cats all week: YEAH I am going on vacation and I am going to miss my cats. They have been sleeping on our laps, sleeping on our bed (Well McCook anyway) and generally following me everywhere I have gone the last couple of days....what am I going to do without my girls. I am use to being without them, but they seem so genuinely happy that I am home!!

5. OREOS!!! I need some Oreos. Rons hates Oreo's but me...I love them and I need some DOUBLE STUFF ones really bad......Mission #2 on Vacation...buy Kristin some Oreo's :)
