Today's Adventure

was one that I truly enjoyed. Myself, my brother Larry and my niece Jessica headed out for a day of Antiquing and shopping fun and fun we had!

OMG we found the BEST place ever to eat in Grand Island. Coney Island. The French Fries were homemade. The Hamburgers brought back memories of Double K in Norfolk, Nebraska and the Buck Burger. I felt like a little girl again. If I just would have ordered chocolate milk. My brother Lar said the same thing. We told my niece Jessica about the good ole DoubleK Days and ordering over the telephone at our booth. Such great memories...reminded me of Dad which is good. Here is Jessica and Larry enjoying their Soda's in a bottle. Lar said that as soon as he saw Orange pop in the bottle he knew he had to have it.



I love spending time with my brother and with Jessica, we just don't get to do it very often so today was very special to me.

I found lots of things I loved..but mostly......this

our $17.00 dollar shelf that is a perfect addition to our cabin! I just shoved some stuff on it but man do I like this shelf!!

Another find, this beautiful vintage tablecloth...which matches the "new" colors of my cabin kitchen....OH I was so happy to find this. A great $12.00 find in my humble opinion. LOVE IT>



Last but not least....this adorable hand painted bunny that I found at none other than the the Party supply place. Isn't he cute! I wanted and Easter Decoration for the cabin and here he is.

Rakow Auction

I am soooooo tired. I swear I haven't been this tired in forever. I woke up at 4 this morning with one crying cat!!! I thought "Well I may as well get up" So I did....it was the first time in my life that I vacuumed at 4:15 in the morning and was done with all my laundry by 6:15........

So off I went at 6;45 to pick the girls up at the office and head to Neligh for the Auction. I must say it was a nice, pleasant day. Everything seemed to work and the weather was gorgeous. SO no complaints.

Because it was sooooo nice out....I decided to treat myself and go to the Cabin. Upon arriving I finally found time to work on redoing some stuff on the walls, cleaning my closet and taking out garbage. I was sooooo excited to get some of those things done.

My main project for the evening was hanging Ron's Wonder Hangers. OK at first I was pretty confused as to why Ronnie wanted to order those things but I must confess my darling husband was Right...and I LOVE IT!!!!!



Wonder Hangers are a small closet owners dream. I Ordered more....but shhhhhh don't tell Ron Stock.

Another project was to take down the Evergreen wreath and redo the floral arrangement on the wall above our "open area". So I added my fish from the bathroom...I LOVE how this looks...I really like those fish :)

I have had the floral arrangement forever and I just can't part with it!

Another one of my "projects". This one involved replacing the fish that I used on the above project. These outhouse prints are hilarious. I used them in "our" bathroom and they crack me up.


And finally my favorite...these beautiful prints that say Relax and Dream with these peaceful shells.........I must say it look pretty cute in here.


After this LONG LONG day has finally ended. I need to go to sleep for my busy day of shopping and antiquing and shopping with my Brother Larry and my niece Jessica. I am really looking forward to it!

Rembering.....

for some reason I am rembering our 2007 Trip to Cancun. That was so much fun and so relaxing. I used most of my Cancun photos to decorate our cabin. The water colors totaly inspired me. So in that.....

Good to be Home....

I swear I was gone overnight but it felt like twelve days and fourty nights :) LONG NIGHTS.

Kristin has returned to the land of the Beavers (gosh that does NOT sound good).

Very very nice to be home. Hanging out with my cats and one very full dog. He seems to be getting ALOT of scraps......

Off to bedtime.....

Monday Blues.....

I have a serious case of the Monday blues. My biggest problem for today is I want to stay at the Lake but can't. My second problem is I don't feel like sleeping in a hotel tonight, but I have to. My Third problem.....I thought it was suppose to be warmer today.

Apparently, it is up to ROn and I to get the big yellow truck to Cambridge. That is all well and good but that makes me nervous :) Nothing more scary than Ron driving a big rig with his knee......oh well I suppose I will get there safe and sound one way or another...

So I am OUT of here time tomorrow night.......ADIOS!

I promise....

to be a better blogger this month. I am not sure what happened in February, but maybe between all the stuff going on and being sick most of the month, probably had ALOT to do with it.

March 1st.....WOW hard to believe. I decided to give up a couple of my Creative Teams this month. I am very active at one site and have found that suddenly scrapbooking was more work than it was fun for me. I was spending all my time creating layouts that were completed just to get my monthly requirements done. I have decided to set aside one day a week for scrapping if I can. So that is something to look forward to for me. Speaking of scrapbooking...I did this layout using one of my Blog Posts here:




Last month, I did really good on the no chocolate challenge. I do however miss:



It was rough but I managed to live through it......I think :) Now I have to get use to Friday being Fishy at my house. I kind of forget about Lent not being Catholic and all, but good thing Ron loves fish. Me...not so much. I like my good ole red meat :)

This upcoming week is full, but that is ok with me. Tommorrow we leave for Cambridge for an auction, then I am planning on attending a Land Auction we have with Ron on Wednesday. I sure hope someone comes to bring me home because we have an auction on Thursday and if it is really suppose to be 70 degrees I certainly don't want to miss that! It can't be worse than LAST Thursday's.......MAN that was COLD!

Well that is my update for the first of March. Looking forward to seeing the Lake ice melt, letting my cats outside to play and opening windows!!!

I am going to go finish laundry and settle in for some NASCAR later today....GO CLINT BOWYER!!!!

My awesome pal T!! Man......40 years.....good god have we known each other a LONG time. I am so glad that I do. There are parts of my life that are better because you were part of it. I am extrememly proud of you. You have a wonderful wife. A family that is awesome. Children who are so great. You are a wonderful teacher and a coach that any parent should be proud to have as a mentor and role model for their child.



Here's to 40 more years! I love ya T.

A word about

State Wrestling 2009.

I know my nephew wanted to be in the Medal round at State and fell a little short, but with all of life's ups there are downs. They make us strong, smarter and more in control of our destiny. It challenges us to be more diligent and maybe a little bit more grateful for those little accomplishments.

I just want my Nephew to know how very very proud I am of him. HE doesn't have to be a state qualifier, or a medalist or a champion...he just has to be my Nephew Sheldon. The kid who can always make me smile. I am grateful for the fun I have had watching you this year. Your love of the sport has given me the opportunity to spend time with my family, old friends and have experiences that I wouldn't have had if it wouldn't have been for you.



There is something to take away from the 2009 tournament.

You have friends who have fun with you, teamates who respect and need you and a family that loves you. Your a winner hands down in my book! Being a Champion will fade, medals will get packed away someday, but you will always have the love and support of who loves you the most.....and that you will have forever!

There............that is what I tried to tell you, but I was having too hard of a time not crying. I am softie and YOU know it :)

Oh the excitement....

in preparation for State Wrestling. The first and foremost exciting thing is I don't have to pack any yellow!!! That makes me very happy, second to watch some exciting wrestling and finally to spend some time with my family........

and to support Sheldon.



It will not be an easy road but one that I know this kid can accomplish great things on. Good Luck Sheldon.

Amazing....

I can NOT believe that I am about to watch the NASCAR Gatorade Duals. WOW amazing. It seems so weird to be back racing already. I swear yesterday was the first Husker game of the year. As I look forward to the NASCAR season a bit of me is worried for Clint and a bit of me is excited to watch him grow into the Cheerios #33 car. Yes, I am missing him in the Old #07 BUT he is wearing a yellow suit and sporting my two favorite colors. Yellow and Red. SO good luck to Clint Bowyer in the Shootout today, the Daytona 500 on Sunday and the entire Season! Make that Chase Clint!

Ugghhhh

I have been battling a terrible tummy ache ALL day tonight and half of last night. This has been the LONGEST day. It is soooo nice out and I want to be outside, but I just don't feel up to it. I am hoping this is not a permant thing and hopefully this will NOT hang on. I don't really want to be sick this week or weekend so send me good feeling well vibes......

Ron's New

CAR!...and he loves it. He totally fell in love with this car while in Oneill and he said he "had to have it". Well he found out who owned and it bang.....here it is.




Ron is happiest when he has a pretty Caddie to drive around. I am so happy for him cause he really LOVED this car!

Fun at the Hockey Game!!

I forget how much I LOVE Hockey until I go again and then I am reminded......tonight Ron and I went to the Lincoln Stars game. IT was fun because they played the Tri-City Storm (also a Nebraska team).

Way to go....

...to my vary favorite Wrestler; my Nephew Sheldon! First place at the Clearwater invite! WAY TO GO KID!! I had the best time watching you. On to Districts next.

Perfect day ever!! I think I appreciate the nice days in Winter more than any other.....

60 DEGREES. NO wind.........just an awesome day.

Took my frozen Christmas stuff down. Picked up the trash in my yard. Hung out my sheets. Cleaned out Kandie (my Explorer). Carried our boxes to my to sell trailer. Picked up groceries. Went to the floral shop........

Spent time with my "kids":





I could not have asked for a more wonderful day. It was perfect.

OK I am back....to reality. I use to love winter, but this is making me real mad. I think the combination of this week long cold and the fact that it was almost 70 degrees on Thursday is enough to send me over the edge.

It is so awesome having such wonderful friends....and Kay is one of those. Kay always makes me smile. She is one of the most light hearted people I know and am so glad that we have gotten to know her as one of our lake friends.

Kay is an awesome lady! I hope you had as much fun as we did.......uncovering that apparently Lime Tequila is now the official tequila of Duncan Lakes replacing the ever popular Orange :)

I was hoping it would cure a cold but apparently not :) Tons of hugs Kay and here's to many more!

In Memory....

Of Janice.

It simply amazes me how some people can have such an impact on your life even though you have never met them in person.

That is how I feel about Janice. When I first started posting my Scrapbooking layouts online and communicating with the vast online community of Scrapbookers I joined Scrapjazz. I have been a member there for over 5 years and have become friends with some many of the wonderful ladies that regularly chat there.

One woman in particular touched me and that was Janice Nielsen. I was heartbroken to learn that Janice had passed today. It is heart wrenching to lose those who you wish you would have told one more time what their presence has meant in your life. Janice ALWAYS had kind words to say and never failed to leave the most encouraging and loving comments.

he was truly one of kind. A tremendous woman with a heart of gold! I hope now her and Jeannie can scrap together and take good care of us that remain!

Rest in peace Janice and give Jeannie a big hug for me!!
